cns vital signs- computer-based neurocognitive testing
I offer CNS Vital Signs (CNSVS) testing as an objective, computerized assessment of cognitive functioning when additional clarification is needed—particularly in cases involving ADHD, attention concerns, memory changes, or diagnostic complexity.
CNSVS is a standardized, FDA-registered neurocognitive test battery completed on a computer in a quiet office setting. Unlike traditional paper-and-pencil tests, it is a series of game-like tasks completed on a computer. It is designed to be user-friendly and provides immediate, reliable results. The assessment typically takes about 30–45 minutes and measures multiple cognitive domains, including:
-
Memory: Your ability to recognize and recall information.
-
Psychomotor Speed: How quickly and accurately you can perform simple motor tasks.
-
Reaction Time: How fast you respond to a visual stimulus.
-
Attention: Your ability to stay focused and ignore distractions over a period of time.
-
Cognitive Flexibility: How well you can switch between different tasks or rules.
-
Executive Function: Your ability to plan, organize, and complete goal-directed activities.
The results generate norm-referenced scores that compare performance to age-matched peers. This allows for a more data-driven understanding of cognitive strengths and weaknesses, helping to:
- Clarify ADHD diagnoses in adolescents and adults
- Differentiate attention issues from mood, anxiety, sleep, or medical factors
- Establish a cognitive baseline
- Track response to treatment over time
CNS Vital Signs does not replace a comprehensive clinical evaluation. Rather, it serves as an additional tool that complements clinical history, symptom reports, and, when appropriate, collateral information.
If you are interested in learning whether this testing would be helpful in your evaluation or treatment plan, please discuss this during your appointment.
The testing is not covered by insurance and costs $150 for both the test and the interpretation/report.
